Happy Finish

The weekend was a great harvest party – beautiful weather – lots of familiar faces and many new faces as well – beautiful babies and happy children – lots of happy families having a good time.

We will be closed today Oct 13 to enjoy family visitors – back open Tuesday Oct 14.  Wednesday Oct 15 will be our last day.

On the tree, there are still good McIntosh in the old orchard,  lesser amounts of Cortland, Fuji, and Empire in the new orchard – drops throughout the orchard.   If you want to make one last visit. now is the time.

We thank Mother Nature and all of you who have helped to make it a really great harvest !!

Cruising to a finish

We have opened up our last late season varieties – Golden Delicious, and Jonagold.  Quantities are limited.  We will have more in future years as our new plantings mature.

McIntosh are still good in the old orchard.  Gala at the end of the rows uphill by the fence is also good.  There are plenty of Fuji next to the old orchard.  Empire is good downhill on the right and there are plenty of Cortland and Macoun all the way downhill in the new orchard.

There are good drops of all varieties throughout the orchard for $6.00 per half bushel ( you pick up) – great for apple sauce and pies.

Good apple picking weather for the next few days – forecast is mostly sunny and cool.  We will have cider and donuts on Saturday and Sunday as long as they last.  Sunday will be our last big day –   we  will be open a few days next week, mostly for drops.  I will update the web and Facebook on Monday.  Come help us finish the season and get apples while we still have them!!

Last week/weekend

The past weekend had a nice turnout on a rainy Saturday and another very large crowd of happy pickers on Sunday.  We will be open throughout this week including Saturday Oct 11’th and Sunday Oct 12’th – closed Columbus Day Monday Oct 13.  We may be open a few days the week following.  Cider available all week – donuts on the weekend as long as they last.

We walked thru the entire orchard today and found that there are good McIntosh both uphill and downhill in the old orchard – some will need picking poles to reach them.  Macouns are good downhill at the bottom of the new orchard.  Cortland, Empire, Gala and Fuji all have good fruit to pick.

Now is the time to get good drops of all varieties for $6.00 per half bushel ( you pick up) – great for apple sauce and pies.

There is a limited amount of Honeycrisp in the middle of the rows  above and below the Cortlands.

Help us wind up the harvest!!

More Apples out there !

Good picking now for McIntosh on the big trees in the old orchard.  Go uphill or downhill.  Picking poles are now available.

There are nice  pockets of Honeycrisp for folks who walk down the hill and in the row past the first half dozen trees.  Empire, Cortland, Gala, Macoun and Fuji are all good right now.

This could be your chance to visit the orchard on a damp Saturday without the crowds.   Cider all week and donuts on Saturday and Sunday.

Still More Apples

The past weekend was our busiest in the 13 years that the orchard has been back open.  MacIntosh, Cortland, Empire, Gala, Macoun and Fuji are still plentiful.

Honeycrisp is in shorter supply, but there is still good fruit downhill just above and below the Cortlands.

For all varieties, you need to go down the row past the first half dozen trees to find the easiest picking.  For MacIntosh on the old trees, go uphill to the corner and there is lots of low fruit.

Come during the week if you can to miss the crowds.  On the weekend, come in the morning.
