EXCELLENT PICKING ON WEDNESDAY JULY 26 & THURSDAY JULY 27

Raspberry picking will be excellent tomorrow Wednesday July 26 and probably on Thursday July 27 as well – more berries have ripened.

There are still good cherries, but you have to go farther down the row and reach up and inside the trees.   I picked six quarts for us this afternoon in a little over 1/2 hour.

We plan to close on Friday for more berries to ripen and then will be open for the weekend.   We may be open a couple of days next week if the fruit supply holds up.

Stock up your freezer – berries and cherries taste great in the winter.

Picture shows some local folks on their third trip up here this season.  Fruit would not all fit in one flat, which is why we have extra boxes.

BACK OPEN TUESDAY JULY 25

We will be back open tomorrow Tuesday July 25 and Wednesday July 26.  We expect to be open Thursday, closed Friday and back open for the weekend.

Raspberry picking will be moderate – the cool weather has slowed ripening.   Picking should be better Wednesday and the weather forecast is better as well.

There are still good cherries – go to the end of the rows.

MORE EXCELLENT PICKING SUNDAY JULY 23

Picking will be excellent for raspberries and very good for cherries tomorrow Sunday July 23.  Quite a lot of the Royalty (purple) raspberries are also ripe – they make outstanding jam, pie and cobbler.

Berry picking is excellent in both the three Boyne rows close to the raspberry house and towards the end of the three long Nova rows in the lower field.  Look under the leaves and in the center of the rows.  For cherries it is beginning to require more reaching, but there is plenty of fruit further down the rows.

As usual, we open at 9:00 and picking is always best earlier in the day.  We will be closed Monday and plan to be back open Tuesday.  Next week will be the last full week for the season.

PEAK PICKING THIS WEEKEND

The warm weather has ripened LOTS of raspberries and the picking will be excellent tomorrow Saturday July 22.  There are also plenty of cherries.  Come early when it is cooler and picking is best.

We will be open Sunday July 23 as well – picking will be good to excellent.  We currently plan to close next Monday (July 24) and then reopen on Tuesday .

Next week will  be our last full week –  picking this weekend may be better than on later open days.  Royalty purple raspberries (great for jam and cobbler) are beginning to ripen and there will be more by mid week.

The picture shows some fruit we picked  today to freeze for ourselves – we have to make sure we get fruit before it is all picked.
