WINDUP WEEK FOR APPLE HARVEST

Lots of happy customers this past weekend – Honeycrisps and Macouns  are now picked out.

Empires (reasonably close to the barn) , MacIntosh (in the old orchard), Cortlands (down the hill) and Galas (close to the barn) are still available.  Drops at half price are also available.

Burr and Burton students will be here Wednesday on their service day to pick for the Manchester Food Cupboard.

There will be cider and donuts on both Saturday and Sunday (until they runout ).  Sunday October 14 will be the last day for the season.  Your last chance to stock up on apples.

SIX VARIETIES STILL IN GOOD SUPPLY

Still good picking for MacIntosh, Honeycrisp, Cortland, Empire, Gala and Macoun, but farther from the barn.

Empires are especially good this year and closer to the barn than the Honeycrisp.

Very few Crimson Crisp still available – they will get picked out tomorrow morning.  Golden Delicious and Northern Spys are picked out.

I will bring up 34 dozen more donuts from Mrs. Murphy’s tomorrow – today they ran out by 1:00 PM, so come early. Cider may run out before the end of the day.

As I said in yesterday’s post,  after Columbus Day weekend we will be closed on Monday, then back open Tuesday for the rest of the week.  Our last day will probably be Sunday Oct 14.

Now is the time to get those extra apples!!

LOTS OF APPLES WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR COLUMBUS DAY WEEKEND

There is  a plentiful supply of MacIntosh, Honeycrisp, Cortland, Empire, Gala and Macoun.  The best Honeycrisp picking is well down the hill above and below the three Cortland rows – the best Gala and MacIntosh picking is uphill along the fence.

Crimson  Crisp (the bright red apples that have been behind the red tape) will start tomorrow  Friday Oct 5 – this is one of our favorite apples – very crisp sweet tart flavor – improves over a few weeks after picking – our longest keeping apple – lasts until March in our refrigerator.

We will also start our small crop of Golden Delicious on Friday and a very few Northern Spys .

After Columbus Day weekend we will be closed on Monday, then back open Tuesday for the rest of the week.  Our last day will probably be Sunday Oct 14.  You can pick drops for apple sauce,  cider etc.  for $9.00 per 1/2 bushel.  Bring your own reusable bags if you want.

Come get your last apples for winter!!

GOOD APPLE PICKING WEEKEND COMING UP

Empires are now ready as well as Honeycrisp,, MacIntosh, Cortland, Gala, Macoun and Fuji.

First picture shows the Empires which are especially good this year.  The second picture shows that picking is still excellent for Honeycrisp, if you go well down the hill, where there are also good Cortlands and Macouns.  MacIntosh continue to be strong on the 78 year old trees.

Cider is available all week – Mrs. Murphy’s Donuts on Saturday and Sunday (until they run out).

The season will last thru Columbus Day weekend Oct 6&7 –  the following weekend Oct 13 & 14 will probably be our last days open.  Come get some good apples now!!
