MAKING IT EASIER TO BRING YOUR OWN BAGS

We have purchased two good platform scales (see picture) to make it easier for customers who want to reduce the use of plastic bags by bringing their own reusable bags.  There will be a $.25 discount for each customer supplied bag – way better than $.05 at the grocery store!

We will weigh fruit in customer supplied bags (and our bags when part full) – $1.10 per pound 1 to 20 pounds, $.90 per pound over 20 pounds –  equivalent to our by the bag prices.

We will continue to sell fruit in our bags at the per bag prices to minimize check out time – especially for customers with lots of bags.

If you have lots of reusable grocery bags, please feel free to bring them.

Most grocery bags are larger than our 1/2 bushel bags – this one weighs 27 pounds when full.

LOOKING GOOD FOR EARLY APPLE WEEKEND SEPT 1 & 2

Looks like the heat wave is breaking – forecast Saturday Sept 1 is sunny with high of 73 – Sunday will be warmer with possible showers.

So come this weekend to get some Zestars and Ginger Golds at their prime.  You can see in the pictures that they are ripening well and the rain has helped them grow.

We will have cider and Mrs. Murphy’s donuts on both Saturday and Sunday – sometimes they run out, sometime not.

Help us start another harvest!!

EARLY APPLE WEEKEND SAT SEPT 1 & SUN SEPT 2

As you can see in the photo, the Zestars are beginning to color up.  They will be ready  to pick on early apple weekend  Saturday September 1 and Sunday September 2.  We expect the yellow Ginger Golds to be ready as well.  The crop over all looks very good for most varieties with good size due to all the rain.

Zestars usually sell out on this first weekend.  They are a great eating and pie apple – the spicy taste comes thru and they stay firm.  We make our pies with them.

Not sure yet whether  we will have cider and donuts on the first weekend, but I will post early next week when I can confirm.

We will be closed Monday Sept 3 thru Thursday Sept 6 and then reopen for our regular Tuesday thru Sunday – closed Monday’s schedule.

Come help us kick off another harvest!!

RASPBERRY PICKING IS DONE – APPLES ARE GROWING WELL

Our raspberry picking season is over.  A lot of good folks picked most of the berries – the turkeys and the chipmunks will enjoy the rest.

The four inches of rain this week battered some of the berries, but will help get much better size on the apples.  The pictures show Zestars which will start on early apple weekend   – probably Sept 1 & 2  and Honeycrisp which will start later in September.

Thanks for making the berry harvest a good one and put us on your calendar for the fall.

LAST TWO DAYS FOR RASPBERRY PICKING

Saturday July 28 and Sunday July 29 will be the last two days for raspberry picking.

You will find good berries as well as some that show the effects of all  the (much needed) rain.  I think the Nova’s are best, but you can find good fruit in the Boyne’s as well.  Royalty (purple) are also ripe.

The apple crop is growing well and the rain will help get better sized fruit after the very dry summer so far.

Last chance to stock the freezer.
